Veteran Finds Success in the Trucking Industry with Support from PIC

kurtis When Kurtis expressed his interest in obtaining his Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), he wasn’t sure where to start. Fortunately, the Yellow Medicine Veterans Office referred him to our team at the Southwest Minnesota Private Industry Council (PIC), where he discovered the support and resources available to help him achieve his goal.

Kurtis was eager to begin training and had already taken the initiative to connect with CES, LLC, a truck driving school in Willmar, MN, about enrollment. When he met with our team, he arrived prepared with all the necessary registration information in hand. This allowed us to move quickly, helping him finalize his training plan and secure funding without delay.

With everything in place, Kurtis enrolled in the CDL program and excelled in his coursework. Every time we checked in with him during training, his enthusiasm and confidence grew. Within just a month and a half of completing his CDL, he had multiple job offers and secured full-time employment. Today, he is thriving in his new career and is grateful for the smooth transition. He shared that he hadn’t realized these types of resources were available to him and was thankful he reached out for support.

At PIC, we are proud to support individuals like Kurtis as they pursue fulfilling careers. His story is a testament to the impact of workforce development programs and the power of determination. Congratulations, Kurtis!
