Providing youth and young adults with experience opportunities
The Southwest Minnesota Private Industry Council’s youth and young adult division works with employers and educators to assist students ages 14-24 residing in our 14-county service area. Services include career exploration, career awareness, career preparation, and skills training that align with the needs of local employers. This is accomplished through a series of work-based learning activities, career focused events and workplace experiences. Providing students with opportunities to experience “real-life” workplaces and employees outside of the classroom is important for their career preparation and for building a pipeline of future southwest Minnesota skilled workers.

Growing Our Future Workforce
As a school-to-career intermediary organization, the PIC can serve as a single point of contact for employers to work with the region’s schools, colleges, and youth. School districts and employer partners provide a wide range of career exposure, career exploration, and career experiences.
Youth and Young Adult Programs
Southwest Minnesota Private Industry Council offers individualized services to help youth and young adults, ages 14 - 24, with their career goals. This can include career exploration, career assessments, work-based learning opportunities, paid work experiences, skills training and college programs, and securing employment.
Youth Employment Specialists are available to provide support and career guidance as youth and young adults pursue your career goals.
