We understand that each individual has unique needs, which is why we offer specialized programming for qualifying clients. These programs include:

Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Adult

This federal program provides individuals with a range of employment services including tuition assistance and focuses on helping low-income adults gain the skills and knowledge needed to compete in today’s economy.

To be eligible, an individual must be 18 years of age and meet local priority groups and income guidelines.

Dislocated Worker

If you have been laid off or are facing job displacement, our Dislocated Worker program offers career advising, transferable skills assessments, job training, along with assistance in finding new employment.

Eligibility includes individuals who have received a layoff notice, worked for a closing business, or faced farm or business closures due to economic conditions.

REfugee Employment Services

At the Southwest Minnesota Private Industry Council (PIC), we’re proud to provide employment services that benefit both job seekers from refugee and immigrant backgrounds and local employers.

Our services include job placement assistance, workplace skills training, interpreter services, employment support, referrals to resources, and more.

Who Can Participate?
This program supports individuals who have lived in the U.S. for 5 years or less and meet one of these categories:

  • Refugees
  • Asylees
  • Cuban and Haitian Entrants
  • Certain Lawful Permanent Residents
  • Amerasians, Iraqi and Afghan Special Immigrants
  • Victims of Trafficking
  • Certain Afghan and Ukrainian Humanitarian Parolees

Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP)

MFIP supports low-income families with children in achieving economic stability through work. It provides cash grants, food support, and job counseling services to help parents secure and sustain employment.

Diversionary Work Program (DWP)

Designed for low-income families with children, the DWP provides services and support to assist them in gaining employment and avoiding the need for public assistance. The program aims to help families become self-sufficient within four months.

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, Employment and Training (SNAP E&T)

SNAP E&T is a food support program that helps participants transition from public assistance to self-sufficiency by preparing them for paid employment.
