The Southwest Minnesota Private Industry Council (PIC) is excited to announce that Amy Khamphanh has assumed the role of Public Assistance Program Manager as of November 17, 2024. Amy steps into this leadership position following the retirement of Mary Mulder, a dedicated PIC leader whose impact will be felt for years to come.
Amy’s journey with the PIC began nearly two decades ago. She started as a Job Training Specialist and Case Manager on November 14, 2005. After a brief hiatus to explore a new opportunity, Amy returned in August 2016, as a Career Specialist. Over the years, her talent, dedication, and passion for workforce development have been evident, leading to her promotion to Senior Job Counselor in September 2023 and now to Public Assistance Program Manager.
Reflecting on her time with Mary and her new position, Amy shared,
“For 17 years, Mary has been both a supervisor and a role model, guiding me in countless ways. Her leadership and example have shaped me into the person and professional I am today. Filling her shoes will be no easy task, but I feel honored to follow in her footsteps. Thanks to her mentorship and support, I feel prepared to take on this new role, and I’m comforted knowing that even in retirement, she’ll always support me and our team.”
Mary, reflecting on Amy’s promotion, expressed her confidence in her successor with warmth and admiration.
“There are so many ways to describe Amy, but one phrase captures it all: she is the complete package. She is bright, efficient, and resourceful, with a remarkable blend of intelligence and common sense, paired with compassion that makes her an exceptional leader. I have no hesitation in stepping away because I know the program is in the most capable hands. Amy’s potential is truly limitless, and I couldn’t be prouder of her.”
PIC’s Executive Director, Carrie Bendix, also expressed her confidence in Amy’s ability to excel in her new role.
“Amy has consistently demonstrated her dedication to our mission and her commitment to the people we serve. Her leadership, compassion, and vision will ensure that the Public Assistance Program continues to thrive under her guidance. We are thrilled to have her step into this critical position.”
As Amy embarks on this next chapter, the PIC celebrates not only her promotion but also the legacy of leadership and mentorship Mary leaves behind. Together, they represent the heart of PIC’s mission to empower individuals and strengthen communities.
